課程概述 |
Course Description:
This course is designed to expand students’ horizon concerning the Romantic Spirit by crossing boundaries between media (and in the future, countries). Literary texts will be closely read in parallel with art works and films with Romantic themes. Classes will be conducted mainly in English, in the form of short lecture, film viewing, group discussion and presentation. In short, students’ participation takes up a major part of the class.

Course Objectives:
Students will learn historical knowledge of the Romantic period (c.1780-c.1830) and early Victorian period, the skills of close reading of poetry, essay and secondary materials, a more informed way of appreciating and discussing art works and film, the skills of group discussion and presentation, and formulating one’s opinion in a 10-page research paper (in MLA or APA style).
